about Paladin Blue

Paladin Blue is focused on the canine companion.  Our purpose is to highlight the failure of the Pound System within Victoria and NSW, exposing the truth of where puppies in Petshops really come from, and the how a rescue dog should always be considered as a viable and responsible option for those seeking to adopt a dog into their lives.

3 STEPS:  The Puppy Farm - The Petshop - The Pound

Puppy Farms are large scaled facilities where dogs are bred for their puppies.  The conditions within these facilites are often sub standard both for breeding and for the lives of the dogs in them.  Due to these extremely low poor standards, puppies develop health problems, temperament issues and genetic defects.  These puppies are then sold to Petshops.

Petshops will place these puppies in their windows or enclosures and sell them without ever seeing the parents.  Often young staff untrained in the Pet Industry will make a sale despite the puppies being ill, carrying disease, having temperament or neurological issues.  A person with no knowledge of how to care for a puppy can purchase from a Petshop at any time.  When this happens, the dog often ends up in a pound.

The Pound is the last stop for may dogs who have been bred for profit and sold like a commodity from a shop, a newspaper ad, or the internet.  Once the Puppy is no longer 'cute' or it develops health or behavioural problems the animal is then dumped, or handed in to a Pound.  Not all Pounds have a rehoming service.  If a dog is surrendered to a pound, it can be killed within 24 hours.  If it is collected by a ranger it will wait 8 days before it is put down.  Most pounds around Australia use injectable drugs to dispose of the puppy or dog.  Some still shoot dogs.  It is the sad tale of a puppy whose live is born from misery, sold as a disposable item and then dumped as unwanted.  Over 160,000 dogs will die this way this year.
